How do you get the FULL account name to print on the Deposit Detail report? Mine only shows the sub-account name.

Example: I have a main account called INSURANCE with a sub-account called CLASS.  I also have a main account called REAL ESTATE also with a sub-account called CLASS. I need to report to show: INSURANCE:CLASS but it currently only shows CLASS. I don't know if it's INSURANCE or REAL ESTATE.

Thanks for getting back to us, Dee125.

I appreciate the screenshots you've provided. Printing the report including the Main Account Name through the Deposit Detail report is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop.

As a workaround, you can rename the sub-accounts and include the main or parent name. This way, it will show when you pull up and print the report.

Hi there, @Dee125.

I'm happy to help you out with renaming this Deposit Detail report.

It sounds like you have your report set up correctly, meaning all the information within it is valid. So let's change the name of it.

Here's how:

  1. First, open the report.
    • Click on the Reports menu at the top.
    • Choose Banking, then Deposit Detail.
  2. Filter the report to show the account needed.
    • Select Customize Report.
    • Click the Filters tab.
    • Find account in the list of filters then choose your Class account.
    • Hit OK.
  3. Memorize the report
    • In the name field, type in Insurance: Class.
    • Select OK.
    • Then click the Refresh button on the report.

That's all there is to it. Your report will now show your desired name once you've refreshed it. Below are some screenshots on the steps:

How do you get the FULL account name to print on the Deposit Detail report? Mine only shows the sub-account name.

Thank you Tori B for your response, but that's not what I need.  When the report prints all of my deposit entries, it only shows sub-account names; not the full account name including the main account.  Below are: 1) an example of how my accounts are setup (my Chart of Accounts) and 2) what the report needs to show vs what it actual shows:

$200 is coded to the Insurance, sub-account Class Income Account

$150 is coded to Insurance, sub-account Class Income Account

$100 is coded to Real Estate, sub-account Class Income Account

Notice on the bottom, you only see Class under Account, so you don't know what Class it is (Insurance or Real Estate) because it doesn't print the main account's name.

My Chart of Accounts:

Notice on the bottom report, you don't know what type of Class is being referenced.
