How to remove an accountant user

I am trying to remove a User that has not worked here since 2015.  I am opening My Company and clicking on profile information to edit and remove the previous user.  I am the Admin on the account, my name is Debra.  It keeps telling me i am unauthorized to remove User and to ask Debra to remove the User.  How do i get QB to realize i am Debra.  I look at all profile info and it says "hello Debra" so I am not sure where the breakdown is.

Welcome and thank you for posting here in the Community. It's my pleasure to help delete user in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).


To delete/remove users in QBDT, you must be logged in as an account administrator. When you're logged in as admin, you can now successfully delete users under Users and Roles.


If you've logged in as admin, and still won't be able to remove/delete the user, I suggest getting in touch with our QuickBooks Dekstop Support to check this further for you.


To contact support:

  1. Go to:
  2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.
  3. Select your QuickBooks version.
  4. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  5. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

Thank you so much... I also had a response to put the USER as inactive so this is sort of what i did.  I am logged in as admin so it will take a phone call on my part.  I have been swamped with year end and beginning of new year so I am trying to not get on the phone if its at all possible. Since this is not crucial this week i will figure it out or call customer service after i get through the crunch.  Thanks again for the feedback!!! Debbie
