Hello, 88_88.
I appreciate you taking the time to share your input here. I'd be glad to provide some additional info on this news you received.
You will not need to upgrade to QuickBooks Online Advanced unless you need over 250 items in the Chart of Accounts, 40 Tracked Classes, and 5 Users. You can check your current usage by:
1. Clicking the Gear icon in the top right corner.
2. Choose Account and Settings.
3. Select Usage.
I've got an article for you that explains the usage limits. You can check it out here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-Articles/What-are-usage-limits-in-QuickBooks-Online/m-p....
If you do need more than the allowance, Advanced offers unlimited amounts, as well as other new features. These features include smart reporting, the ability to import invoices, a personal Success Manager, online training, etc.
This link will take you to the QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced comparison: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/accounting/advanced/. Here you'll find all of the new items that come along with Advanced, and pricing options.
Please feel free to comment below if you have any other questions.
Current existing usage, accounts, classes, locations, etc are being grandfathered. You will remain on Essentials. You will only pay for Advanced if you move to Advanced

what is the "etc"?
I appreciate your response, but the previous standard is not grandfathered. Intuit's arbitrary limits do not permit the user to add additional "accounts" if the new limit is now already exceeded. The user first has to "delete" active accounts below the new limit threshold in order to add accounts. This behavior encouraged by Intuit certainly contradicts GAAP and entices users to push ethical boundaries to conform to the limits. Thus, spending 428% more per month/year for Advanced is the only viable option compared to the business risk exposure instigated by Intuit to stay on Essentials.

Given this has not gone into effect yet, and any accounts you have on the effective date will not be affected, what you could do is create a few thousand new accounts now with zero opening balances. That should see you through a few years.
In QuickBooks desktop, they offer both delete and make inactive.
In QBO, you can make it inactive only but not delete. Seems like it's one less major feature in QBO. This one less feature in QBO could be costly for users.
