I received free quickbooks after filing a married, filing jointly tax return using TurboTax. However, my wife needs QBs, not me. How can I move my QBs account (but not my intuit account) so my wife can log in and use the software?

Hi, fwthorpe. Welcome to the Community and to your wife as well.

I'm here to share with you a bit of information on how QuickBooks account works.

The Intuit and QuickBooks accounts are linked to each other. With that being said, removing your QuickBooks will remove your intuit account as well.

Not sure that answers the question.  My wife is the self-employed one and the one who uses QB.  I file the taxes so it's all in my name.  Right now she is paying for QB and it doesn't work that well because all the categories QB assigns things are different than the categories in TurboTax.  Crazy, but true.

How do I use my login to gain the free access that we are entitled to so we don't have to pay for QB this year?  Also, I need the QB access to be in my wife's name.  Make sense?

Yes, I actually got your point, @Anonymous.

Since your wife's information is the one registered in QuickBooks Self-Employed account, therefore her user access is linked to our data system. However, our chat and call support for QBSE can update her account's information.

Let me provide you the steps to reach them:

  1. Type in "Talk to a human", then press Enter.
  2. Enter the same keyword (Talk to a human) when prompted.
  3. Click I still need a human.
  4. Select between Message an agent and Get a callback.

Please check out our support hours to ensure that we address your concerns on time.

Don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section below if you have other concerns or questions. I'm always ready to help.
