I would like a report of checks written for a period with a TOTAL at the bottom. How do I get that?

Hi there, Susu1.

I'm happy to guide you with the steps so you'll be able to run a report of your checks with their totals at the bottom of the page.

  1. Open the Transaction Detail report by clicking on Custom Reports from the Reports menu.
  2. Pick Transaction Detail.
  3. Customize the report's date and go to the Filter column to filter the transaction type to Check.
  4. Tap OK after the customization.

Once completed, you'll now see their total at the bottom part of the page.

I would like a report of checks written for a period with a TOTAL at the bottom. How do I get that?

Hello, I have been trying to get a total of checks written for 2020 to no avail. I have followed the steps you listed & the report comes up, but it is all blank.

It shows name of company, Custom Transaction Detail Report as header & date from Jan thru Dec 2020 - only shows Balance 0.00.

Please help...KP47

Hey there, @KP47.

Thanks for following the thread. I hope you're enjoying the day so far. I'm happy to lend a hand with your report.

I recommend checking your file for any data integrity issues that could cause no data to show on your report by running a Rebuild and Verify. A Rebuild and Verify will identify the most commonly know data issues within the company file and correct them. I've included the steps to run these utilities below.

To Rebuild:

  1. Go to the File menu, then hover over Utilities and choose Rebuild Data.
  2. On the QuickBooks Information window, hit OK. Follow the onscreen steps to save a backup.
  3. Let the tool repair your file. Remember, this can take some time. QuickBooks may seem stuck, but as long as you can move your mouse, the tool is working.
  4. When the Rebuild finishes, click OK.

To Verify:

  1. Go to the File menu again. Then tap on Utilities and select Verify Data.
  2. Let the tool check your file for data issues.

If QuickBooks doesn't find any problems, hit OK. Then recheck your report to see if the data is there.

Take a look at Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop for further details about this process.
