Join nowI can share some details on how QuickBooks Payments works, immanuel-bader-j.
With the mandate of the IRS, it’s important to have a Taxpayer Identification Number or Social Security Number on file. The IRS requires reporting of all payment cards and third-party network transactions.
I’d recommend contacting our QuickBooks Payments Support for more options. They can guide and provide options on how you can continue setting up for your payments account.
To know more about QuickBooks Payments, check out this article: Connect your QuickBooks Payments account to QuickBooks Online. This will provide you steps on how to link your payments account into QuickBooks Online as well as a link on where you can manage your merchant transactions.

Unfortunately i sill have no solution to my problem. I really like Quickbooks but if I cannot get the payment service setup I will have to move on.
For example I testes freshbooks, they offer online payment services as well. In the registration process, they ask for a social security number as well but I can change to "I am from Germany" and can then enter my german password ID.
Is it somehow possible to get this working for me with quickbooks as well?
We have an EIN but the problem ist that I do not have a social security number as I live in Germany. Other vendors like Freshbooks over to enter a German passport ID to get the online payment set up.
Any additional thoughts on how this can be solved?
Thanks,
Immanuel
Hello, @immanuel-bader-j.
I want to make sure you're able to sign up for our QuickBooks Payment service. You can set up QuickBooks Payment even without a Social Security Number (SSN) as it is optional.
Here's how:
For the detailed steps and screenshot, refer to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/merchant-services/apply-for-gopayment/00/369333.
Once done, let's connect your payment account to your QuickBooks Online. Let me show you how:
However, if the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Merchant Services Team again or utilizing third-party applications as what Fiat Lux - ASIA mentioned above. They can guide and provide options on how to handle the specific situation you have.
For future reference, visit the official IRS website should you need to get the Employer ID Numbers (EIN) or Social Security Number (SSN).
