Here is my perspective:
I am trying to use QB Desktop as I need to get work done, I am not interested in learning about:
Intuit's powerful offerings
or connected services.
Just trying to get the job done.
Is this required login in an "improved user experience"?
Nope, not that because now I am logging in two times instead of one. And I need to remember at least two passwords, and if did everything right, two user names as well
What if I need to get work done, and don't have an internet connection?
Is that an improved user experience? Nope, that only results in no user experience.
Now, this scenario is difficult to imagine for your devs in Mountain View, but people do not have internet for a variety of reasons:
service provider got hacked
service provider outage
sitting in a coffee shop sipping a Super Venti Flat White and don't want to use the local wifi
and I feel stupid for even to have to write this..... there is not internet tripple OMG
Not a real improved user experience and possibly a compromised security experience.
Like to hear from other users if I am off the mark, and also from Intuit if it is not a canned response.

Logging in to your Intuit account and verifying your identity helps you protect your data. This is to improve security across our products, we're making the change to use One Intuit login when accessing QuickBooks.
This will give the primary contact greater control over user access and make it easier to have all your Intuit products seamlessly connected. Not to worry since we're not tracking everything you do in your QuickBooks Desktop.
The prompt to log in using your Intuit Account ID happens when you open or create a new company file, add a user, sign in to My Company, or while accessing Intuit User Account Management. This login makes it easier to manage your connected Intuit services.

I agree. This account requirement garbage just started for us and is absolutely ridiculous for a desktop based software.
Just wanted to agree here. It's incredibly frustrating to have to log into Intuit every 2 weeks (I've been logging login prompts, so far 3/17, 4/4, 4/18, 5/2, 5/19). I do not need online services, I do work for the DoD and the absolute last thing I want to do is have a cloud presence. Intuit does not disclose the location of its cloud storage servers, and that's mandatory for me. The fact that as a user I cannot turn these prompts off is maddening. Even Microsoft allows me to purchase a standalone offline copy of Office where I don't have to continually login to live.com after initial registration.
I bought Quickbooks Desktop for a reason, and it was not to have to confirm that I own a legitimate copy of the software. And I still haven't heard a single justification for how forcing me to periodically log in is increasing my security. Last I checked, every online interaction I have is an opportunity to get hacked.

Online user management is obviously a justification for Intuit to require an annual fee to use their desktop software after years of unsuccessfully trying to replace it with their QB Online product. Online user management is not only a hassle and potential logistical nightmare when users or email addresses change but, it's also introducing a potential security risk for customers who don't normally connect their accounting computer to the internet.
