Is document form setting not stable?

Hi there, @Chet-Uttamot.

I'm here to help provide insights about the date box not remaining unchecked in QuickBooks Online.

To isolate this unexpected behavior, let's make sure that your Service date is turned off.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon in the right pane.
  2. Choose Sales.
  3. Under Sales form content click Service date.
  4. Hit Save and Done.

If you already turned off the Service date, let's open your QuickBooks account in an incognito window, this mode will not store cache.

Here are the different keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N.

If it works fine, you can go back to your regular browser andclear its cache to start with a clean slate. Also, we can use another supported browser for testing.

For additional reference, you can check this article on how to customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts

Should you need further assistance, feel free to leave a comment below. I'll be around to help. Take care.

Is document form setting not stable?

Thanks for dropping by here in the Community, @Chet-Uttamot.

When you say document form setting, are you referring to the templates from the Custom form styles section of QuickBooks? I've checked here, and haven't found any open ticket about the Date box not remaining unchecked.

You can try creating another template and see if the problem persists. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Custom Form Styles below Your Company
  3. Choose the New style option in the upper-right corner.
  4. Press the template type you want to create.
  5. Go to the Content tab.
  6. Remove the checkmark from the Date box.
  7. Hit Done

For additional resources, check out the Customize your invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online article. It also contains detailed steps and screenshots for a visual reference of the process.

If you meant something else, I'd appreciate any extra details you have so I can provide the steps to move forward. Thanks in advance. Looking forward to your reply.

Yes, I did exactly the way you described. I unchecked the 'date' box and then hit 'done'. Then 3 minutes later, the 'date' box became surprisingly checked. So I unchecked, and kept getting surprises by 'date' box automatically self-rechecking. I have 8 custom forms (just plain QBO custom forms, not imported ones). I did uncheck the 'date' box for over 100 times genuinely in the past 24 hours, and counting.

When I previewed my finished documents, the date just appeared right there even I already unchecked the 'date' box in setting. So I went back again and again to uncheck it in Custom Form Style.

The problem is happening only to the 'date' box checking/unchecking. It's happening to multiple forms of mine. I was like busy playing catching running rats keeping checking my form setting over and over. I wonder if I am the only one facing this issue.

Hello Joesem M,

I didn't try turning off the Service Date as I couldn't find the gear icon on left pane… Not sure if my QBO appearance is different from yours.

However, I did try clearing cache in my Safari following to your second advice and the problem has disappeared since. All my custom forms have been stable for the past 24 hrs (no more automatic self-rechecking the 'date' box). Clearing the cache should be killing the issue. I'm happy now.

Thank you for your advices.
