Moving QB 2017 Pro Desktop with 2 user license to new machines

Hello Kevin1966,

I appreciate you for posting here in the Community. Let me assist you with any concerns you may have about moving the QuickBooks Desktop program.

You can either download the installation files via a web browser or through the CD if you have it. The process you choose will depend on what's more convenient or easy to follow on your end.

Additionally, if you want to move them directly into a new computer, please know you can move the program and files into your USB flash drive.

Here's how:

  1. Click the File tab at the top menu bar.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Move QuickBooks to another computer.

If you need further guidance, I'm adding the article with complete instructions on it:

Move to or reinstall QuickBooks Desktop in another computer.

In case you want to install new QuickBooks and manually move the files to another computer, please visit the support article I recommend below:

Move your company files to another computer.

Lastly, to re-enable payroll, you'll need to enter your payroll service or disk delivery into the system. Please note that your payroll data is already part of the migrating process above.

Let me know if you have further questions with moving the QuickBooks program. I'll be right here to help.

Moving QB 2017 Pro Desktop with 2 user license to new machines

If I use the Move utility, it shows it is for a Single User license only.  My client has a 2 User license so they can access QB at the same time.  Will each machine use the same license number or are there actually two different license numbers?

Moving QB 2017 Pro Desktop with 2 user license to new machines

Hello there, Kevin1966.

In QuickBooks Desktop, we require a separate licenses for each person who uses the software. That said, if you're on a two user license, each computer will use a different license number.

However, if you're the only one using QB and you have multiple machines (laptop and desktop PC), you'll only be needing one license number. Additional license is required when you need other people to use QuickBooks on their computers. Complete details on our license agreement

In case you'd wish to add another user in the future, here's an article made handy for you: Add a user license to your QuickBooks software.

Should you need help with anything about QuickBooks, feel free to let me know and I'd be happy to help.
