QuickBooks 2011 Accountants copy

Hi!  I have all my account information in QuickBooks 2011 on my old MacBook Pro6,2.  It isn't giving me an option to prepare an accountant's copy under the File menu.  Can anyone help me to figure out what to do?  I'm thinking I may need to transfer all of my information to a newer version, but my computer is so old I cannot even go to quickbooks.com through safari to set up a new account.....  I must add that I am not very computer literate and have absolutely no idea what I am doing.

Let me share details of why you're unable to prepare an accountant's copy using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac, @Rawlinson. This way, you can manage your data accordingly.

Creating an Accountant's Copy is the best method if your accountant needs to review your books and continue working on your company file at the same time. However, the QBDT for Mac (older version) doesn't have an accountant’s copy feature. You'll have to share your file with your accountant, but you won’t be able to work on it until they send you back the Mac version of your file.

To do this, here's how:

  1. Open the company file you want to share.
  2. Choose File, then Save File for Accountant.
  3. Click Verify (recommended) or Skip Verify.
  4. Once QuickBooks tells you that the verification is successful, name the converted file and navigate to where you want to save it.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Select OK.

Also, to further guide you in managing the growth of your business and transactions using QBDT for Mac, I would encourage you to check out this article: QuickBooks for Mac Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, taxes, and reports, to name a few.

Keep me posted if you have other concerns about managing your company file in QBDT for Mac. Please don't hesitate to drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care always, @Rawlinson.

@Rawlinson

Which MacOS do you run? Are you able to run Sierra?
