Quickbooks Mac Desktop app for quickbooks online does not seem to be able to print a sales tax report.

Every time I click on Taxes>View Return>File manually (since they seem to have discontinued the auto fileing) it signs me out and I have to log in again and start over.

Quickbooks Mac Desktop app for quickbooks online does not seem to be able to print a sales tax report.

Hi there, @mckeephoto.

There are times when your app has a lot of data, which may cause random errors. Let’s perform a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this.

To start, you can reset your app. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Click Reset App Data.
  3. Allow a moment for the process to complete, and then close the app.

If resetting the App Data still doesn't make a difference, I suggest doing a full reinstall of the program. Here’s a quick guide to uninstall and reinstall the app: QuickBooks App for Windows and Mac: General support.

Quickbooks Mac Desktop app for quickbooks online does not seem to be able to print a sales tax report.

So, I guess I was slightly wrong. I am using quickbooks online thru the quickbooks app for mac.

I couldn't find the app reset button. But, I was able to delete the app and reinstall from a fresh download. It logged me right in.

That did seem to fix one problem with the sales tax. I can now see how much the sales were for the period. That was missing before.

However, when I get to the window that says File Manually, I cannot do step 1: print out full report.

It immediately logs me out and goes back to the login window.

Hi there, @mckeephoto

I appreciate you performing the steps provided above. Since you still can't print the sales tax report, I would recommend opening your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account on a browser.

Here's how:

  1. Open a browser and go to this site: qbo.intuit.com.
  2. Enter your login credentials and sign in.
  3. Then print your report.

You can also try the steps below to reset your app using the keyboard keys:

  1. Log out your QBO account.
  2. Hold down the Fn (function) key and open it again.
  3. It will ask if you want to Reset the app.
  4. Select the Reset button.

This process will reload your app to remove cache because the app stores pages in memory which may cause unusual behavior. For more information about this process please check out this article: QuickBooks App for Windows and Mac: General support

Also for your reference, please take a look at this article about sales tax in QBO: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/getting-started-with-quickbooks/sales-tax-in-quickbooks-...

Quickbooks Mac Desktop app for quickbooks online does not seem to be able to print a sales tax report.

I was able to reset the app, after "discovering" the reset app button in the Help menu at the top of the screen. User error. I was looking in the wrong place originally.

However, the reset did not fix the behavior: when clicking on Download your full Report, the app logs me out and doesn't download anything.

One thing I noticed: When going into the Taxable Sales Detail for last month, the report says it doesn't contain any data. While it is certainly possible that I didn't have any taxable sales last month, shouldn't it say Total Sales=X and Taxable Sales =0.

Or is there a different work around I can use to pull up the sales tax info I need to report to my state dor?

Hi @mckeephoto,

You'll want to uninstall and reinstall your app to fix your sales tax report. Let me walk you through how.

Here's how to uninstall:

  1. Drag the QuickBooks Windows app from the Applications folder to the Trash.
  2. Go to Finder, then Empty Trash to completely remove the app.

After that, download and install the app. Once done, check your taxable sales tax report. I'll also share with you our page in case you need some handy articles about apps.

Quickbooks Mac Desktop app for quickbooks online does not seem to be able to print a sales tax report.

Did that already. And, just tried it again. Still failing to download the full report and still going back to the login window.

So far, I have uninstalled and reinstalled and reset the app data. None of those fixed the problem.

I can do it through the web portal, just not through the app on the mac. Does it have anything to do with the fact that I am on 10.13?

I can't upgrade until I am certain that I won't need AccountEdge to refer to in the future.
