Hi there, @mark97.

Glad to have you in the Community. Thank you for trying the steps provided by my colleague Michelle_b.

You are correct, the view in Quickbooks Online has been changed. The steps I have listed below has the information needed to change the view.

  1. Go to Gear, then Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Advanced option on the left.
  3. Click on the Views section to edit, then change the drop-down to Accountant.

The Journal Entry is still in the + New icon, @mark97.

Since you’re unable to see the journal entry, let’s perform some basic troubleshooting steps because QuickBooks uses cache files to boost program processes.

To start, let’s try logging into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, causing some unusual responses.

Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Firefox or Internet Explorer)
  • Control + Option + P (Safari)

Once signed in, go back to the + New icon to double-check if the journal entry is showing up. If it works, return to your default browser and perform a clear cache. Clearing or deleting cookies can solve performance issues when you visit a website, particularly if the cookie is flawed.

However, if the same thing happens, try using other supported browsers.

You can visit this article: Enter Adjusting journal entries. In this link, you'll learn more about how to adjust account balances and to review the Adjusted Trial Balance report.

Let me know how it goes by dropping another comment below. I want to make sure we get to the bottom of this, and you're up-to-date with your tasks. Take good care!

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for the help.  I've tried logging in with an incognito page.  I've also cleared the cache, tried multiple browsers and done the obligatory reboots, unfortunately with the same result.  The option to create a JE is not there.  Below is a screen shot of my options.

I've had two sessions with QB support, neither had an answer.  Any other suggestions would be really apprecaited!  Thanks for helping.

I found the problem.  QBO has 2 views Business and Accountant.  (The view can be changed in the "Advanced" tab in the Company Accounts and Setting page.)

When in the "Business" view the Journal Entry is not an option.  If you switch to "Accountant" view the option appears.  I don't know if this is a bug or intentional but I've let QB support know about the issue.
