Why is ACCOUNTANT QBO data different than CLIENT QBO data after migration?

Scenario, ACCOUNTANT is managing CLIENT QB on ACCOUNTANTs QB Desktop since 2016. CLIENT creates QBO Account in 2018 to manage invoices. Banks accounts linked and actively auto updating.

***** QB removed 60 day rule to allow for migration *****

2020 CLIENT adds ACCOUNTANT to QBO Account. ACCOUNTANT follows QB Support steps to migrate ACCOUNTANT QB Desktop file to CLIENT QBO account to which they were added.

After migration completed, ACCOUNTANT receives email confirming migration completed successfully. ACCOUNTANT runs P&L on QBO and confirms 2016 & 2017 P&L report matches QB Desktop P&L for 2016 & 2017.

CLIENT logs on to QBO account and sees EXISTING data on QBO with the previously linked bank accounts.  CLIENT runs 2016 and 2017 P&L reports in QBO and no data displays.

Why can't the CLIENT see the newly uploaded data from the ACCOUNTANT QB (desktop) file that the ACCOUNTANT uploaded into their QBO Account?

Why is ACCOUNTANT QBO data different than CLIENT QBO data after migration?

Hi there, sophiamena.

I can share some basic troubleshooting steps so that your client will be able to view the changes on his account.

It could be that the changes haven't been applied yet to your client's end. To isolate this issue, we can log out then log in the QuickBooks Online account of your client. By doing this process, we'll be able to refresh the database of the account. You can simply click the Gear icon and select Sign out, then reenter our credentials.

Once done, we'll have to go to the Reports menu and run the 2016 & 2017 Profit and Loss report to check if everything looks good. If you still aren't able to view the data, I recommend getting in touch with our technical supports. This way, we'll be able to pull up your account in a secured session and conduct a series of investigations to rectify the underlying issue.

Here's how to connect with us:

  1. Click the Help icon.
  2. Hit Contact Us.
  3. Enter "Client unable to view the data/changes that the accountant added to his QBO account." in the description.
  4. Select Let's talk.
  5. Choose Get a callback or Start messaging.

Please check out our support hours and contact us at time convenient to you.

In addition, we may notice transactions are missing, or reports are different and don't match when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online. I encourage reading this article to learn more about  how your books are converted from QBDT to QBO.

As always, I'm just one comment away if you need more help in managing your account so please don't hesitate to visit us again.

KLentB PLLLLLLEEAASSE help!!!! Or someone.  I have been on the phone for 1 hour and 45 minutes with Tech QBO and we are chatting with Tech QBDesktop.

I have verified that our accountant completed the migration by verifying 2017 P&L in the ACCOUNTANT's QBO Account in for our COMPANY.  Why can't I see what they did on MY ACCOUNT.

I appreciate the time and effort you've spent with one of our support agents, sophiamena.

We can access the Audit Log feature to view the transactions imported from QuickBooks Desktop into QuickBooks Online (QBO). Then, go to the User column to see the Import Administration (as the user) and Event column for the transactions imported.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu.
  2. Under Tools, choose Audit Log.
  3. Tick the Filter column and select the period in the Date field.
  4. Tap Apply.
  5. Then, go to the User and Event column to see the details of the imported transactions.

For more details about accessing Audit History, you can check out this article: How to view transaction changes in the audit history.

I have a link here that provides you with articles about managing your financial reports: Run balance sheet and profit and loss reports.

Keep me posted if you need a hand with customizing your reports or any QBO related. I'll be here to ensure your success. Take care always.
