Work order

Welcome to QuickBooks Community, @Eve2019.

You can modify Sales order into work order form if you're using QuickBooks Desktop Premier and Enterprise. This feature does exactly like the work order, which they link orders to specific customers and invoices.

Here's how:

1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
2. Choose Sales & Customers tab then go to Company Preferences.
3. Check the box next to Enable Sales Orders and click OK.
4. Select Sales Orders from the QuickBooks Home screen.
5. Click the Formatting tab on the Create Sales Orders window, and then tap Manage Templates.
6. Choose Custom Sales Order from the template list, and then click Copy.
7. Name the new template by Work Order into the Template Name field. Click Ok to start customizing.
8. Click Additional Customizing to check all options then select Header and change it Work Order.
9. Check both boxes next to Ship Date to include a field on the work order form for scheduling jobs. You can change it to Scheduled Date or Job Deadline.
10. Select Columns and clear the second checkboxes next to Rate and Amount. 
11. Make any other customization then click OK twice to exit the template.
