Reconciliation Beginning Balance Off Despite Register Matching Statements

Hi,

I originally reconciled my account correctly through August 2020 using the Reconcile page, however after trying to clean up my quickbooks balance/bank balance, a few transactions were deleted.  I've since added those back and tied out my bank register to the statements, however now my reconcile page says my beginning balance is off.  I've manually recoded the new transactions as "R" in the register and don't know what to do now.  If the register matches my bank statements, should I be forcing the reconciliation via "Add Adjustment & Finish"?  Any help here is appreciated.

Reconciliation Beginning Balance Off Despite Register Matching Statements

Hello @BD39,

Let me help share how you can fix the beginning balance of your account reconciliation so you proceed with next month's session.

Normally, if the beginning balance is off there's a link that says We can help you fix it in a box at the top and it displays the changes of the account. If it doesn't help, let's pull up your account history to determine why your balance is off. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to Accounting.
  2. Select Reconcile.
  3. Click History by account.
  4. Under Account, select the bank you wish to reconcile.
  5. Select the appropriate report period.
  6. Click View report.

In the same manner, here's an article you can read to learn more about how to fix your beginning balance: Fix issues for accounts you've reconciled in the past in QuickBooks Online.

However, if you're still unable to determine why it is off, I'd recommend contacting your account for guidance with your account reconciliation. If you haven't yet, you can use this helpful link so you can find one near you: Find an accountant or bookkeeper.

On top of that, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Banking for QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other questions, please let me know by leaving any comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.
