Join nowWe are finally getting faster internet. I have Quickbooks Desktop currently on my laptop. I want another person to be able to access and work in my QB from their home. They currently are doing all of the invoicing and have to travel to my location to be able to do it. What do I need to do to set this up?

The best solution I've found is QBox. It is specifically designed for QB Desktop to share a company file. It only allows one user at a time to work on the file to prevent conflicted copies. All you need to do is to download it onto your PC and it will locate your company file folder. Then, you invite a user using their email address. All they need to do is to download QBox on their machine and you're in business. You control who has access and for how long. It's only $120/yr (or $12/month) for unlimited users and their customer support is fantastic. I have no affiliation with them, I've just used it for many years and it works great.
It's nice to hear that you're now getting faster internet, @annieme.
Let me help you accomplish the setup for another user access in your QuickBooks Desktop.
You can use the multi-user mode in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to allow multiple users to install and use the same company file at the same time over a server network. You need to have an additional seat license for the other user.
Once done, install the program properly on another computer or device. Here's how:

From what you are saying I will need to purchase another computer to act as the network server. We are a very small company. Purchasing another QB seat and purchasing another computer is just not in the budget. Any other suggestions?
I appreciate you for getting back to us, annieme.
When using the Multi-user network, one computer must act as the host server to store the data.
From there, you can follow the steps shared by my colleague to set it up.

What about remote desktop access? Is that possible?
You can set up a simple private cloud solution. Your computer will be set as the host and you can work locally as usual. Your remote users will access your files in multiuser mode. It costs $25/access/month and you can cancel at any time.

Looks like Qbox would work for us. Going to look into this some more. Thank you for the suggestion.
