Report for Historical Quantity Ordered Regardless of Invoicing

I am looking to export to excel a report exactly like the 'Sales by Item Summary" report except instead of the 'qty' showing how many were shipped I want to see how many were ordered regardless of invoice status.

Report for Historical Quantity Ordered Regardless of Invoicing

Hello there, @AndrewCU. Let me share some insights about running a report that will show the order instead of the quantity.

You can customize your report. Also, you can run the Sales by Item Detail report instead. Let me show you how:

  1. Run a report.
  2. On the Report window, select Customize Report.
  3. On the Modify Report window, go to the Filter tab,
  4. From the Filter dropdown, choose Item.
  5. Under Item dropdown, choose All inventory items.
  6. Select OK.

I'm also adding this article to learn more about customizing a report in QuickBooks Desktop: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Then, you can memorize the report to save the customization for future use. Check this article for the detailed steps: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.

Let me know if you need more help in running reports. I'll be here to help you.

Report for Historical Quantity Ordered Regardless of Invoicing

Thanks but not really what I asked. I am asking if there is a way I can see the quantity ordered per part not the quantity shipped or invoiced. Lets say that 10 pieces of a part was ordered by a customer. Lets say that 6 were invoiced and shipped. Currently the sales by item summary shows the quantity invoiced and shipped, 6, but I want to see the quantity ordered, 10. Thanks!

Thanks for coming back, AndrewCU.

In QuickBooks Desktop, we have the Inventory Stock Status by Item report where we can customize the column to show Order, Reorder Qty, and On Sales Order. Here's how to run the report:

  1. Go to Reports on the top menu.
  2. Choose Inventory.
  3. Select Inventory Stock Status by Item
  4. Click the Customize Report button.
  5. Tap Display.
  6. Type order in the Column field and choose Order, Reorder Qty, and On Sales Order.
  7. Hit Filter and enter Item. Choose Multiple Items and manually select the inventory items.
  8. Press OK and OK.

We can also utilize the export report to Excel to customize this report. Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the Reports menu and select Reports Center.
  2. Find and open any report.
  3. Select the Excel on the toolbar. You can also select Print or Email to save the report as a PDF.
  4. To create a new Excel workbook, select Create New Worksheet. If you want to update an existing workbook with the data in the open report, select Update Existing Worksheet. Select Browse and then find the workbook on your computer. Keep in mind, this overwrites the existing workbook.
  5. If you want to format the data a specific way, select Advanced. This is optional.
  6. When you’re ready to export, select OK. To open the report in Excel, you can also press Export.

We can memorize the report to save the customization for future use. Just check out this article for more details: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.

Feel free to visit our Reports page for more insights about managing your financial reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Report for Historical Quantity Ordered Regardless of Invoicing

Not at all what I am asking. I am asking if there is a way to view by part the total number of units ordered. If customer A has ordered 500 units in the last year but only 200 have been shipped I want to see a report showing 500 units. All of the reports I find on QuickBooks show 200.
