Retrieving qbo company file

I appreciate you coming here, lee-holter.

You can access the downloadable file if you're logged in as the administrator of the QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

I'm also adding these articles to learn more about these processes: Manage Your To Do list.

If you're still unable to locate the file despite being the admin, I suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Care Support. They can securely pull up your account and retrieve the file for you.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the upper right.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern.
  4. Click Let’s talk.
  5. Choose Get a callback
  6. Type in your contact info.
  7. Select Confirm my call.

You can check out this article for our most updated contact information: Support hours and types.

I'm just a post away if you have other questions or concerns. We're always here to lend a hand. Thanks for posting and I wish you have a lovely day ahead.

Retrieving qbo company file

Hi Charles, thank you for the reply. I am not even finding a "to do list" and am logged in as the admin....where might i find this list? I have looked in "lists" and do not see it there and have never used the "to do list"

Thanks for getting back to us, lee-holter.

Allow me to step in and help you further with retrieving your QuickBooks Online company file.

You should be able to see the Task List in the Dashboard.

As an initial troubleshooting step, try logging into your QBO account using a different or a private browser.

There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, thus causing some unusual responses. To use a private browser, here's how:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N.

  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P.

  • Safari: press Command Shift N.

Once logged in, go back to the Dashboard to double-check. If it shows, return to your default browser and perform a clear cache. However, if you're still unable to locate the Task feature,

you can still export the file without using this option. See the steps below:

  1. In QuickBooks Online, go to the Settings ⚙ icon and select Export Data.
  2. Enter your reason for exporting and select Continue.
  3. In the Moving to QuickBooks Desktop section, select Learn more.
  4. In the Download company data section, select Learn more.
  5. Select Get started. On the Exporting from QuickBooks Online page, select Continue to download.
  6. In QuickBooks Desktop, make sure you're on the No Company Open screen. If you have a company open, go to File and select Close company.
  7. Back in QuickBooks Online, select Download. In the Save your company file window, select a location to save the file. Pick a place other than your Windows Desktop.
  8. When the download finishes, select Convert Now.
  9. In the Create a new QuickBooks file window, give the file a name and select a location to save it in. Pick a place on your local computer and not a network or external drive.
  10. After the export is done, select Finished.

For your reference about this process, check out this article: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop. This will provide in-depth details on how to retrieve your file as well as a link to access the migration tool.

That should do the trick. Keep me posted on how everything goes in the comment section. I'm always here to make sure I've got you covered. I'll be here if you need anything else. Take care always.
