Starting a new company file

We are starting a new QB enterprise account as of the new year and want to move only the outstanding AP/ AR / Customer and Vendor list to the new file. We do not want to carry over the entire QB file. Is this possible?

Yes - if your starting a new file file from scratch then you can add as little as you wish.

Whatever parts you do want to want to reuse can be handled by export/import of 'lists' - perhaps vendor & customer list, items list plus the COA?

Im actually not sure the best way to transfer the actual open bills and invoices. If its a small number then simply recreating them in the new file may be best. For larger number you can export/import transactions - but you may need to manually trim the file in between to be sure you get only what you want.  Also if you transfer existing transactions then you MUST also have the identical Items and COA for them to link to. So if your updating the items & coa lists then recreating from scratch will be best.
