Switch from QuickBooks Online to Desktop

We started off using QB online and our accountant said to switch. I have downloaded the desktop version we purchased. I went in QB ONLINE and selected to EXPORT the company files.

Received the email that it is ready, but when I login, I don't see the "To Do" or "Task" anywhere.

I attempted the chat, however, I sat here for 20 minutes with no response.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Wendy

Switch from QuickBooks Online to Desktop

I appreciate your patience, @AllwayzWen.

I’m here to provide some details to help you resolve it.

It will usually take a few minutes after receiving an email. And may take up to 2 hours, especially for companies with many transactions.

You’ll want to repeat some steps on the export page to display the next task. And you need to use Internet Explorer so you can import everything smoothly.

Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks Online, go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Export data.
  3. Repeat the steps to prepare to export your QBO data.
  4. Click Continue to download.

After, switch to QuickBooks Desktop. Please ensure there’s no open company on the screen. If you have, go to File and select Close Company. Then you’ll need to go back in QBO and select Download

Let the process done, so the progress bar will run. In case the status bar doesn't appear, check out the instruction stated in this article before step 5: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop. This resource also provides complete information on how to move your data.

The Profit and Loss report shows your income and expenses over a specific period. To ensure everything matches after exporting, you can run it from the Report Center: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
