Transfer QBO account data to a new QBO account

I have a client that currently has a QBO accountand has been instructed by council to start a new QBO account. For managerial purposes they want to bring over the data in their current QBO account to their new QBO account.

Is there a way to do this without exporting the QBO account and importing to QuickBooks Desktop, then exporting the QuickBooks Desktop file and importing it into the new QBO account?

Not sure why they want to simply create a copy with all the data, as how would the council know which is the original and which is the copy.  Anyhow you can create a copy with an app called Chronobooks. They will have to pay for 2 subscriptions

I think I may end up using "Transaction Pro Importer" first uploading the chart of accounts, then the class lists, then the checking account and credit card registers, and JEs

Still surprised you can't move qbo file to qbo file.

Transfer QBO account data to a new QBO account

It's nice to have you in the Community, @Ryan R.

I'm here to help share some information about transferring data from a current QBO account to a new one.

First, I just want to clarify that in QuickBooks Online you can only export and import lists from one company to another. The transactions need to be entered manually. You may use a CSV or an Excel file to export the lists then import it to another QuickBooks Online account.

For more information about moving your lists to QBO, you can check out this article: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online.

You can also search if there's an available application in importing transactions on this link: https://apps.intuit.com/app/apps/home.

This should help guide you in the right direction. Let me know if you have other questions about the import/export process. I'm here to help however I can.

Gotcha, thanks for the info! I had the same thought on keeping the file but at the end of the day since it's not my business I can only make suggestions.

Will probably say human but I think the robots have been programmed to say that they are human.
