Trying to import bank feeds, get warning "Regions Bank does not allow non-alpanumeric characters in the pin". Regions required me to add a "!" to my password 2weeks ago

Thank you for reaching here in the Community, @angie26.

It's my pleasure to help you with how to import without an error. Let's disconnect and reconnect your bank account. This way, you'll be able to update your bank account password once you reconnect it.

Before disconnecting your bank account, make sure you match or delete all of the downloaded transactions for the account. QuickBooks won’t let you make changes if there are still pending transactions.

Here's how to deactivate Bank feeds:

  1. Click Lists, then choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Right-click the account you want to deactivate, then select Edit Account.
  3. Go to the Bank Settings tab.
  4. Select Deactivate all online services and then OK to confirm.
  5. Hit Save & Close.

I've got you this great article for more details: Disconnect Bank Feeds for an Account in QuickBooks Desktop.

After disconnecting, you can reconnect your bank. Let me guide how.

  1. Go to the Banking menu, select Set up Bank Feeds.
  2. Select your bank and click Next.
  3. Hit Connect, then enter your ID and password with Alphanumeric.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the setup.

For the detailed guide on how to connect bank account in QuickBooks, you can check this article: Set up account for Bank Feeds.

In case you can see an error or you're unable to disconnect an account, you can check this article: Can’t deactivate Bank Feeds for an account. This will guide you on how to fix error.

Keep me posted if you need further assistant. I'm always here to help.

Trying to import bank feeds, get warning "Regions Bank does not allow non-alpanumeric characters in the pin". Regions required me to add a "!" to my password 2weeks ago

I have tried this already. It appears Regions has updated their password requirements and Quickbooks is behind. I spoke to someone last night with QB who suggested I call Regions and ask them to make an exception for me (roll eyes).

I have reached out to the bank. They now require a non alphanumeric character.

Let's update your QuickBooks Desktop, angie26.

This is to make sure that you have the latest features and fixes. This also resolves banking errors just like what you're experiencing now.

  1. Go to Help menu and select Update QuickBooks/Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Select the Update Now tab.
  3. Click Get Updates.

Once done, let's reconnect your Regions Bank. You can follow the same steps shared above on how to reconnect it.

You can also use the Web Connect feature. It's a different way to bring in your bank transactions by importing a webconnect (.qbo) file into your company file. You can log in to your bank's website to get a copy of it. Then, follow the steps in this article on how to it: Import web connect (.qbo) files.

I'm always available to assist you. Please don't hesitate to reply to this thread.

I checked updates yesterday & I am up to date.

Yes can use web connect, but I have 5 different accounts - so a 39 second process just turned into a 45 minute process.

Thanks for getting back to us, angie26.

Since you've mentioned you have five different accounts, were you able to disconnect all of them? If not, I'd recommend doing this, prior to reconnecting them one by one. Please refer to the steps provided above.

If the same thing will happen, it would be best to report this to our Support Team. They'll be able to create an investigation where our engineers can participate and help.

Below are the steps to reach them out:

  1. Click Help at the top.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Tap Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue and hit Continue.
  5. Select Send a message.

Drop by again if need anything else.

I have disconnected all of them. The issue is with Quickbooks. Quickbooks is not up to date with Regions new password protocol.  Regions did not previously allow non alpha characters and they now do require them. Quickbooks still believes that Regions does not allow them.  Once Quickbooks provides an update to address this issue I will be back on track. Until then it seems I will have to do it the hard way.

Thanks for giving us an update, @angie26.

Since QuickBooks Desktop hasn't updated to accommodate your bank's new password feature, I recommend using our Web Connect feature. It's a different way to bring in your bank transactions by importing a web connect (.qbo) file into your company file. You can log in to your bank's website to get a copy of it. Then, follow the steps below:

  1. From the QuickBooks File menu, press Utilities
  2. Pick Import and then Web Connect Files.
  3. Find the (.qbo) file you saved, then click Open.
  4. When prompted to choose a Bank Account, select:
    • Use an existing QuickBooks account if the account you are importing the transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks.
    • Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you are importing the transactions into is not yet in QuickBooks. Type a name.
  5. Hit Continue. You should see a dialogue box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Press OK.
  6. Go to the Bank Feeds Center to review your transactions.

Now you can view your bank transactions within QuickBooks.

This is impacting more customers.  I am not sure why the update is not occurring with Quickbooks?  It seems the bank has done what they need to do and it seems like a checkbox in a permission to allow the special characters.  This is the primary feature I use for my Quickbooks.  Please advise.  Bank has been contacted.

Hey there, @VballVol.

Hope you're having a great Monday. Our Product Development team is actively working with Regions Bank to resolve the issue with the password requirement. In the meantime, you'll need to use the method provided by my colleage @Anna S and import a Web Connect (.QBO) file.

If you'd like to learn more about the Web Connect file in QuickBooks Desktop, you can check out: Import web connect (.qbo) files

Just hit the Reply button below if you have any other questions. I'll be here to help out. Have a great week!
