Showing results for
User never responded to request to join as a Time Tracking User, and their name never appeared in the list of Users.
Now that they're no longer an employee, I want to make them INACTIVE.
But QBO refuses, saying that this employee is a user that is associated with a Time Tracking User.
I know that I must first Delete them from the list of users; but, as I said before, they do NOT show up in the list of Users.
Is there a "back door" approach to removing this individual?
Thanks in advance!! :-)
Nice to have you in the Community space, @MARIO
Cache stored for some time from your browser can cause uncommon issues. Thus, it can affect the views and performance of your QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience.
Let’s access your QBO account on a private window (incognito) to check. You can use these keyboard shortcuts for reference:
Once logged in, go to the Manage Users and check if you’re able to see the name of your employee from the user list. If you have, then we’ll need to clear your regular browser’s cache.
If it still doesn’t show, I suggest using other supported browsers. This way, we can roll out the possibility of a browser integrated issue.
You can also check this article to learn more about managing users in QBO: Add, delete, or change user access. This link can also guide you on how to remove a user from your account.
In case you want to learn how change your master admin, you can refer to this article for the complete process: Change your QuickBooks Online master admin user.
If you have any other concerns about QBO users or with managing your QBO, leave them in your reply. I’d be more than happy to assist you. Have a wonderful day ahead!
Thanks for your response.
Are you saying that I should first login via an Incognito session, then clear cache, then re-login to QBO to see if this user appears in the list of Users?
I should add at this point that since I had first sent the Invite, that I've had 2 complete Refresh'es of the browser. So, naturally, I'm dubious that clearing cache now will resolve this issue for me.
As I see it, I sent the Invite, back in August, but this user never appeared in the list of Users.
If I am unable to effect a satisfactory change, then this must be resolved by someone, on your end, who can go in and reset the bit that is telling your code to disallow me the ability to mark this employee INACTIVE. Or, you must manually go in and remove this employee for me.
It's clear that front-end efforts are inadequate. :-(
This is not the experience we want you to encounter, Mario_at_Calculus_of_Talent.
I'll point you in the right direction, so you're able to delete the employee time tracking user and make it inactive in QuickBooks Online.

I've already gone through the shared screen route with a Support individual (3&1/2 hrs) with NO result; that's why I came here: hoping a Community member experienced this and came out of it with a solution.
I need someone to go into my data on the server side and to reset the appropriate bit OR manually remove this individual.

No solution as yet …
The last suggestion I received was to delete every single last time sheet entry for this "employee". I have done so; AND I've un-linked the OnTheClock app.
Yet, I still receive the following error msg: Something’s not quite right! This employee cannot be deleted because it is associated with a time tracking user.
This person does NOT show up as a User of any kind. He is in my database; but NOT accessible by me.
Why can't someone just go into my file and Remove him for me?
