Warning

I installed Quickbooks on my new computer and transferred company accounts too. When I open my company account, I am getting this message: ""The file you specified cannot be opened. Make sure that it is not currently being used by another program or a read-only file. The Windows error was 'The system cannot find the path specified.'. "" I am the only user on this computer and there is not any other program open. I checked, the company file is not read-only. After clicking "OK" 25 time, the message disappear and I can use the account. After I save and exit, the warning message appears when I open the program again. Is there any solution to eliminate this warning message?

There are ways to resolve this error, aafshar.

It has something to do with the incomplete QuickBooks updates. Program updates are very important to keep the software running. We'll have it re-download, and run QuickBooks as the administrator. Here's how:

  1. Close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Select this link Downloads and Updates, select your Product and Version, select Search, and select the Get the latest updates link.
  3. Close QuickBooks Desktop and restart your computer.
  4. Right-click the QuickBooks icon, and select Run as the Administrator.

Above is one of the solutions that you can use. You can also check out more of it from this article: Fix "the file you specified cannot be opened" errors.
