When I generate PL, and click the income amount to see breakdown, it doesn't add up to the total amount. I'm using QB for rental properties and use tags. Why is that?

I have a solution to resolve the breakdown problem, @katedcalilung28-

I'll share some solutions to help fix the Profit and Loss (P&L) breakdown issue in QuickBooks Self-Employed. This way, you can review the report accordingly.

The breakdown amount should match the total income balance indicated in the P&L report. Since it doesn't add up to the total amount, I'd suggest ensuring the following:

  1. Make sure that you select Business as a transaction type.
  2. Pick the appropriate Account in the drop-down.
  3. The Date on the breakdown page should match the P&L report.
  4. Tags should also be selected correctly.

If it's customized correctly and the issue persists, I'd recommend doing some basic troubleshooting steps. To start, I'd suggest logging your account through incognito. This way, we can check if it's a browser-related issue. Refer to the keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  •  Control Option (Safari)
  •  Ctrl + Shift + P (Microsoft Edge)

Once logged in, re-run the P&L report and review the breakdown to verify if it's performing well. If it works, return to your regular browser and press the CTRL+ Shift and Delete keys on the keyboard to clear the cache

I've also added some of our help articles to serve as your reference in customizing reports and different category in QBSE:

Hello, thanks for your response. I have tried the steps you mentioned, however, the problem still persists :( Even in the image, you will see a total of 3,485, but when you sum up the breakdown it accounts for 4,625. Hope you can help me with this. Thank you so much!
