Why am I not seeing dates in the "date" section of the audit log? I want to know when the people logged in.

Let me help clear things up, zvi_t.

I've read the whole thread and checked your attached screenshots.

The notification made by the system (Online Banking Administration) won't show you a specific date. Though, you can include the Date Changed column on the Audit Log report to know when these events happened.

You can click on the Gear icon on the Audit Log page and check the Date Changed box. I've attached a screenshot for reference.

Hi @zvi_t,

This feature keeps track of every action or event that occurs in your QuickBooks account. The DATE column of the Audit Log shows the original transaction date. While on the DATE CHANGED column, it shows the date and time of any changes to your books.

You can find on the EVENT column what type of changes they perform, and you can also see if they are logged in or logged out.

I appreciate you for providing the screenshot. I've got some troubleshooting steps we can try to show the dates in the Date field, zvi_t.

It's possible the browser's cache data is full or damaged preventing the dates not showing in the Date field. To better isolate this one, let's try accessing QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a private window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues.

You can press CTRL + Shift + N for Google Chrome, or click the Settings and More icon in the upper-right hand corner. For Microsoft Edge, just hi the New In Private window tab.

Then, go back to the Audit Log page to see the dates in the Date Changed and Date columns.

If it works, go back to your original browser and clear the browser's cache to delete the temporary Internet files. You can also use other supported, up-to-date browsers to be thorough. Just refer to this article for the detailed steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

I have articles here about Audit Log feature:

Please touch-based with me if you need anything else in QBO. I'm here to ensure your success.

Thank you for your reply.

Let me save you some trouble, so you don't have to post so many guides on how to do basic things like clearing cache. I am a computer engineer programmer so I have basic computer knowledge, so feel free to shorten your replies :)

My cache is always clear but just for test sake, I logged in via incognito mode and have the same issue.

I also tried on 5 different browsers (that I don't use very often) and have the same issue.

(Opera, Firefox, IE, Tor, Brave)

Any other suggestions?

Thank you

Thank you, but I did that twice already. It says someone will chat with me in 5 minutes but hours go by and no one contacts me. That's why I posted the question here.

I will try again tomorrow.

Why am I not seeing dates in the "date" section of the audit log? I want to know when the people logged in.

When clicking the "Date Changed" combobox, it would show as selected but no more columns were added to the chart, so I assumed that the "Date" was the column that would show this.

But it made sense that this was not the case. So after selecting it and refreshing (several times), it started working and showing the date of logins.

Thank you.

Hi JaneD,

I can not see the date of transaction on the audit log report nor can filter it from the gear icon. Could you please put back the date of transaction. Thanks

Hi there, @tee131.

Once you've opened the Audit Log report, you can add the Date Changed column from the Gear icon drop-down.

Here's how:

  1. From the QuickBooks Online (QBO) dashboard, go to the Gear icon.
  2. Tap on Audit Log under Tools.
  3. Select Date Changed from the Gear icon beside Print.

If you don't have this option, please make sure to open QuickBooks as a master administrator. You may also perform the basic browser troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue.

First, sign in to QuickBooks using a private browser. It's the best place to check browser related issues while working with QuickBooks. To save you time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

If it works fine, go back to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. You can also use another supported and up-to-date browser to narrow down the result.

To see the creation date of the transaction, you can tap on the View tab under History. Then, review the details from there.a27 2.PNG a27 1.PNG

You may also share a screenshot of your Audit Log report so I can look into this more closely.

For reference, you can check this video article to see other tips on how you can filter the Audit log to search for transactions and review user activities: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, you can also get more tips while handling your other QBO reports through this link: Create and manage reports.

Please let me know if you need further assistance with your audit history. I've got your back and am always happy to help. Thanks for reaching out, wishing you and your business all the best.

Thanks Angelyn_T for quick response. I tried on incognito mode too but unable to see the date of transaction and here is the picture of date. Date of changed is when the transaction was entered and date of transaction is when the transaction happen.

Thank you for the prompt reply, @tee131. I'll be happy to assist you with your concern about the Date column in Audit Log.

I appreciate you for following the steps provided by my peer above. As well as sharing a screenshot showing the Date column itself. The tutorial video that's the source of this screenshot is actually an older version of QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The current version of QBO now has the Date changed column. Ensure you have this column enabled to view it in Audit Log.

Here's how:

  1. Press the small Gear icon, right above the History column.
  2. Tick the Date changed box.

Here’s how you can use the audit log in QuickBooks Online for your future transactions and business.

Let me know if you have further concerns about the Audit Log feature in QBO. I'll be right around the corner, ready to answer your question. Have a great day!

The older version with the date is better than current, could you revert back to the older version? Current version doesn't show the date on the report, besides clicking on each transaction and with thousand of transaction, it makes us harder to know which transaction belongs to previous year.

Thanks

Hello, tee131.

Thanks for getting back to us. I understand you prefer using the old version of QuickBooks Online. Currently, we don't have the option to change it.

With regards to the Audit Log Report, Yes there is an option that you can both see the date of transactions and date of changes by adding columns,

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Choose Audit Log.
  3. Click the gear icon on the left side of the screen.
  4. Select the available columns you wanted to add.

In addition, I've added this article that'll help you print reports: Print reports in Quickbooks Online.

I'm only a post away if you need more help in completing your other tasks in QuickBooks. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.

There isn't any column of date to add, here is the what I can see on gear attached. Audit log is pull out from report.

Thanks for letting us know, @tee131.

With the new QuickBooks Online interface, the only available columns in the Audit Log report are Date changedUserEvent, and History. Being able to see both the transaction date and date changed would be helpful. It allows you to locate the activities that belong to the previous year easily.

Do the people who make these ridiculous changes actually use the program?  This is absurd !
