Why are reports exported to excel blank

I’m here to ensure you’ll be able to view your reports from Excel, @kokrongly-captur.

You’ll want to ensure to click the Enable Editing option for the Excel file to view the full content of the report. 1.JPG

If you have and the issue persists, I recommend updating your Excel to isolate this. Outdated Excel may have cause exported reports to show blank data. Let me guide you how:

  1. Open the Excel file.
  2. Navigate to the File menu.
  3. Select Account
  4. Click Update Options.
  5. Select Update Now

If you don't see the Update Options, this means you already have the latest version of Excel. In this care, I recommend contacting the Microsoft Support team. There, they'll be able to provide you with some steps on how to troubleshoot your Excel.

Let me also share this article that you can read for future reference: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online. This can walk you through the steps on how to generate a report to show the information you need.

You’re always welcome to post a reply if you have other concerns exporting reports in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. I’ll be around to help you. Keep safe and stay well.

Why are reports exported to excel blank

Didn't work for me either. I can hit f2 enter in each cell or text to column on a range of cells then it populates but that is it. The numbers and formulas are present but not visible when the file is originally opened.

Why are reports exported to excel blank

Hello there, @TSV-CPA. We acknowledge that this is an unusual behavior and I'm here to provide some steps to help you export your reports successfully.

Have you performed the steps recommended by my colleague @JasroV above? If not, I'd recommend doing so as outdated excels can cause issues like this. You can follow the steps above or refer to these:

  1. Open your Excel file.
  2. Go to the File menu then select Account.
  3. Hit on the Update Options button then select Update Now.

Additionally, as per my colleague above, to view the entire content of the report, be sure to choose the Excel file's Enable Editing option.

On the other hand, if the report still appears blank when exported to Excel, let's go ahead and check if this has something to do with your browser. Sometimes, too many cached files can cause the system to behave abnormally and hinder us from completing certain tasks in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To start the troubleshooting, let's log in to your account using a private browser and try to export the report.

Here’s how to do the private browsing:

  • Safari: Control + Option + P
  • Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox or Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P

If it doesn't give you blank data, it's safe to say that it's being caused by the browser. We can isolate this by clearing your regular browser's cache and cookies. If you get the same result, I recommend switching to another supported web browsing application

Moreover, should you wish to personalize the appearance of your reports and filter the data being shown, I'm glad to include this article to help you achieve that: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
