Sometimes local internet cache files stored in the system can cause unexpected behavior in the product. This can be the reason why totals for expenses show a different amount in the QuickBooks Online (QBO) web version.
Let me share with you some basic troubleshooting steps that will help you fix this right away.
First, use a private browser to access your account in QuickBooks. It is also known as InPrivate in Internet Explorer and Incognito mode in Google Chrome. This browser mode doesn't record the browsing activity on your local device. You can access this by pressing the following keys:
Once done, check again the totals for expenses.
If QBO shows the correct amount, then let's clear the cache in your web browser or try using a different supported browser. The issue might steam from the browser itself.
Additionally, you can run some expense reports to track what you've spent in QuickBooks.
The Community always has your back, so please let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be more than happy to help. Keep safe.

Thanks for the detailed answer, however none of these suggestions worked. Incognito mode, cleared cached, different browser. Same result. And I tried the Refresh Data via mobile.
1. I hope to be able to use the system in a normal cached environment (Passwords Managers etc.)
2. I only have one transaction (expense) (New Setup). It shows up in the Mobile dashboard, as well as all reports. However it does not show up in the QBO dashboard.
3. This expense was a cash transaction.
Thanks for coming back here on the Community page, hloden-hlism-com .
I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on this. Allow me to chime in and help make sure that your concern about the QBO dashboard is taken care of.
If there is only one transaction that doesn't show up in the QBO dashboard. You can try to delete and recreate the expense in the browser to trigger the system to reflect it. Let me show you how to delete the expense in QuickBooks Online
For further reference, you may visit this article that talks about how to record, edit, and delete expenses in QuickBooks Online: Enter and manage expenses in QuickBooks Online
Once done, open the mobile app and the browser to check if the transaction made displayed.
If the issue persists, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care Team. This way, they can the root cause and investigate further.
Here's how:

Once again thanks for the advice, however there was a different issue, and I tried your delete suggestion. After spending over an hour with Intuit QB support yesterday, I am currently awaiting a Supervisor to call back.
In the meantime I have figured out that:
1. QBO dashboard "EXPENSES" ignores expenses categorized as fixed / long term (assets).
2. The mobile app displays all "EXPENSES" regardless of category.
My assumption that the app is correct may be my lack of accounting knowledge. LOL I now think the QBO is accurate for accounting, however there is a disconnect between the platforms.
Thanks for the help!
