Why don't the check numbers show when I run a Chart of Accounts report?

Run a year end Chart of Accounts report for one Account and the check numbers don't show. How can I change this so the checks numbers for checks I wrote will apprear?

Why don't the check numbers show when I run a Chart of Accounts report?

Let's work together to get the check numbers to display in your Chart of Accounts report, bjohnson.

If you’re referring to the Chart of Accounts page, please know that this page is designed to display balance summaries for your accounts and doesn’t show transaction details like check numbers.

However, if you specifically run a report for one account to view check numbers, you can use an Account QuickReport and filter to view the check numbers.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts
  2. Locate the account you’re working with.
  3. In the View register dropdown, click Run report.
  4. Select Columns and check the boxes for Transaction Type and Num.
  5. In the Report Period, choose Custom Dates and set the time frame to cover the specific period you’re reviewing.

Alternatively, you can find the check numbers in your account's Bank Register. From the Chart of Accounts, click on View Register and look for the column labeled Ref No, which displays the check numbers for transactions recorded as checks.
