Why is my Self employed subscription ending when I've filed my taxes? It should be free when filing taxes with quickbooks Does it renew automatically?

Hello there, @tkward2016.

I'm here to provide some insights about the renewal process of a QuickBooks Self-Employed account.

QuickBooks Self-Employed is a monthly subscription. This gets renewed automatically every month as long as you have the correct billing details registered on file.

However, if your account wasn't renewed automatically, I recommend reviewing your billing information in the system. This way, you can make necessary changes if it's showing incorrect.

To do that:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser. Don't use the mobile app.
  2. Select your profile from the Settings icon and then Billing info.
  3. In the Payment Information section, select Edit.
  4. Update your payment info.
  5. Select the checkbox to acknowledge the change and confirm your updates.
  6. To update your billing address, enter your current address and new address in the next section.
  7. When you're done, select Update and then Close.

If you subscribed to QuickBooks Self-Employed through Google Play or iTunes and the Apple app store, don't follow these steps. Here's how to update your billing info for Google (Android) and Apple (iOS).

On the other hand, if the information is correct, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Care Team. They have the tools to check on your account and determine the reason behind the subscription issue that you've encountered.

Here's how:

  1. Click on Assistant.
  2. Type in Talk to Human.
  3. Press on I still need a human.
  4. Choose your preferred way to reach our support.

To give you more details about the QBSE renewal in different devices, please check out this link: Resubscribe to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Get back to me on how it goes. I'll be right here to help if you need anything else with QBSE. Have a lovely day!

Why is my Self employed subscription ending when I've filed my taxes? It should be free when filing taxes with quickbooks Does it renew automatically?

It is free when filing with Turbo Tax. So I’m not sure why it’s asking me to pay.

Hello there, tkward.

Turbo tax is a monthly subscription wherein you can have a free trial for the 1st month. It is automatically renewed every month if you have provided the correct billing information.

Check the available bundle plans with turbo tax. Also, I'd recommend contacting our Turbo Tax Self-Employed Customer Care team. They can provide options and offers reasonable cost when you've decided to upgrade your existing subscription.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Self-Employed account.
  2. Go to Assistant.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.
    • Ask the community to get help from businesses like yours.

Let me know if you have further questions about the Turbo Tax subscription. I'd be right here anytime.

Stop just replying with a generic cut/paste response; this isn’t helping.

Every year since using Turbo Tax Self Employed, I and many others were gifted a free year’s subscription to Quickbooks Self Employed. Is this no longer the case, and if so why were none of us loyal subscribers alerted to this sudden change?

I'd certainly like to know this too.  I just called the customer service and they said indeed the subscription is ending, wait till May 1st and resubscribe.  I was under the impression that I got turbo tax with my tax bundle in 2021.  This has all been very confusing with no word from anyone.  I will be monitoring this post to see if anyone replies with something other than a generic answer.

Can we get an answer other than a generic reply? This is not answering the question of why it is no longer free. Please assist.

thanks.

I keep getting an error message when I do try to look at the subscription, and when I launch my QB Self-Employed from my Intuit account, it takes me to an empty QB screen. I also would have appreciated a heads-up if (1) the Self-Employed version was moving to QB Online and/or (2) it is no longer free when you file taxes with TurboTax (eight-year TurboTax customer here).

Hi @morganprovince,

Welcome to the Community. I can help you fix these issues and provide some clarification about QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Error messages and blank screens in the product can be brought about by issues in the web pages. We can use a private browser to open your account and see if the system goes back to normal.

It doesn't use the cache, which stores data and creates browser-related issues. If you're using Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press the CTRL + Shift + P shortcut on your keyboard. For Safari, hit Command + Shift + N. Press CTRL + Shift + N if you're using Google Chrome.

If these unusual behaviors are fixed, let's switch back to the regular browser and clear its cache & historical data. This helps restore the default setup of the browser.

In case private browsing doesn't work, you can use another supported web engine to get the best and most secure experience with the program.

Also, let me share some information about your product questions. Self-Employed will not be discontinued and users will not be moved to a different QuickBooks product. However, we will no longer be offering free QBSE to customers who file with TTSE.

Customers who currently have free QBSE from last year will have to subscribe to continue accessing QBSE after their subscription end date. These are for users who are expiring on Apr 30 as it is coming up and also because it is before the IRS regular tax deadline of May 17.

You can also check this article to learn more about the tax bundle, as well as how to upgrade using your mobile or web browser: Upgrade to the QuickBooks Self-Employed and TurboTax Self-Employed bundle.

Fill me in if you have additional questions about filing taxes in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Take care always.
