I'm here to give details why this happens and how to fix it.
Here are the three possible scenarios which may be causing your QuickBooks Online not to load correctly:
Since you've done some troubleshooting steps from your end, let's make sure to check the acceptable characters in your company name. Here's a link for the list: Acceptable characters in QuickBooks Online.
If you see any special characters in your company name that aren’t listed in the article, you can follow these steps to edit the information:
Once done, sign out from your account and log back in to see if it loads faster.
Otherwise, check if any list or transaction data has two or more adjacent dollar signs ($$, $$$, etc.). For example, you enter "College $$" in the check window’s memo field. This will trigger the register page not to load completely.
For reference on the steps above, you can read these articles:
I'd like to know how you get on after trying out the steps. I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Please reply to this post and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a great day ahead.
Thanks for your reply. I have been a quickbooks user/desktop since 2006 and this is the first time I have signed up for cloud and it's really bad.
1) no characters in company name, short text only
2) no adjacent dollars signs at all
3) only one browser open. I have tried 3 different browsers and 2 different computers, have logged out on all.
I am simply trying to setup a chart of accounts and enter journal entries, pretty simple accounting process, so I can generate a P&L.
Never seen such a mess.
The biggest problem I am having now is when I try to do a J/E I can't access the chart of accounts. The down arrow on the left will work for about 3 entries then it goes dead. Takes 3- 4 up to 10 minutes to go live again. By then I have timed out. Simple accounting that should take be about 5 hours is now 2 days.
Did you migrate your data from QBD to QBO or open a new blank QBO account? Consider opening a new trial account and compare both accounts at the same time. Open your QBO account on the main browser and the trial account on private/incognito browser.

Hello there, @blackberrydesign. I appreciate you for getting back to us.
When using QuickBooks Online, you can do journal entries while accessing the Chart of Accounts (COA) page. You can also log in to your QuickBooks account in the same browser and open the Journal Entry feature and COA in a different tab.
Here's how:
Go back to your QuickBooks Homepage, and look for the Accounting menu. Then, right click using your computer mouse and select Open link in new tab.
Also, the system allows to enter more than three entries, probably, this is a browser-related issue. As advised, you can perform some basic troubleshooting steps.
Step 1: Use an incognito window:
It's likely a result of a browser error. This prevents your browser from storing additional cache files that maybe not letting you add more entries. It's a way to check issues caused by a full cache.
Step 2: Delete cache and temporary internet files:
If it works, you can clear cache and temporary internet files to optimize the browser's performance. It will also help delete the information stored in the cache. Another way is to use compatible browsers with QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted on how this goes by leaving a message in this thread. I'd be glad to help you out. Take care and stay safe.
Thanks for taking your time to help. I started clean so there was no prior documentation. I discovered that I had 30 seconds to get an entry in before it froze and timed out. This is not a computer issue as my adobe and other cloud programs are running just fine. It is not a browser issue as I have tried a couple of different ones, and it is not a computer issue as I have tried 3 different computers. This is clearly a QB issue, and of course there is no one to talk to. I will try incognito and see if it makes a difference. Thanks.
While doing journal entries from the chart of accounts is great, it doesn't work if the fields are non responsive.
I did incognito and while better was still slow to respond. I tried both google chrome and microsoft windows to determine if it was a browser issue and had the same problem. I did delete the cache and temp files through Google, no change. I have worked on the desktop version of Quickbooks since the 90's for clients and have never had an issues (I was an accountant in my former life). I will be off this cloud platform and back to the desktop version next month. It is apparent that QB has not worked out all the issues with their cloud version. Thanks for all your help.
