Use the accountant view in QuickBooks Time

This document is for accounting professionals who manage multiple clients. Working in accountant view grants you full administrative access to your clients' QuickBooks Time accounts.

Exception: You will have only view rights to Schedule.

Notes: If your client isn't currently using QuickBooks Time, and they set up an account via the email below, you'll receive a commission.

Get access to client accounts

  1. In QuickBooks Time, at the top right, select your name.
  2. Next to Client Access, select MANAGE.
  3. In the Manage Clients window, select Add Clients.
  4. In the box, enter client email addresses (using a comma to separate each one), and select Send Request. The clients will receive an email. The email invitation expires after two weeks. A new invitation can be sent anytime from the Client Access window.
  5. When a client has accepted your access request, their status in the Manage Clients window will change to Active. Statuses are updated every five minutes. If it hasn't been that long, at the top right, click the X to close the window, and reopen it.

Switch between accounts

  1. In QuickBooks Time, at the top right, select your name.
  2. From the Client Access drop-down, choose a client, and select Switch. At the top right, notice that your company name has changed to the client's company name.
  3. To return to your QuickBooks Time account, at the top, select Back to My QuickBooks Time.

Remove access to a client's account

  1. In QuickBooks Time, at the top right, select your name.
  2. Next to the Client Access drop-down, select MANAGE.
  3. In the Client Access window, at the right of the client's company name, select the X.

Grant accountant view access to a team member

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to My Team and select a team member's username.
  2. Select the Permissions tab, select Manage client accounts, and select Save.
