Add a Transaction Issue

When I am trying to add a transaction in the Banking screen in QBO and I have entered all the necessary information, I click add and get an error message stating "Something's nto quite right. Errors occured on the row below. Please see below for details" and when I look at the transaction below the error message states " An unexpected error has occurred while accepting your downloaded transaction". On top of the the Record Transfer circle is now automatically selected.

QBO keeps moving withdrawals(not checks) to transfers, and I have to re-enter the information after I have selected the ADD circle again.

The only other way I have stopped it from happening is to click on the transaction, select RECORD TRANSFER, then select the ADD circle again, enter the information and select the ADD button.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Thank you

Re: Add a Transaction Issue

Hi, RachelleBogart.

I'm here to help you add a transaction from the banking screen in QuickBooks Online. Let's get this sorted out.

The behavior you've experienced is probably a browser-related issue. Cache and cookies make the browser easier and faster to use. However, too much of these may affect the browsing performance.

Here's how to open a private window in different browsers:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N.

You may find this article helpful: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1773491-add-and-match-downloaded-banking-transactions.

If it works fine using the private browser, open your account using the original browser and clear the browser's cache. You may also try accessing your account using another supported browser.

You can stay connected with me by adding a reply below if you need additional help with adding bank transaction in QuickBooks Online.

Re: Add a Transaction Issue

Hello,

I already deleted the cache/browsing history.

I also tried different browsers and incognito windows.

None of that works.

The only other work around we have found is creating rules for every withdrawal, which you can imagine is tedious.

It would be nice if QBO just fixed the problem, as this just started happening this week.

So it seems that QBO sets it as an "Add" at first.   So when does it become a "Transfer"?

Re: Add a Transaction Issue

It happens after I click the ADD green button that would normally accept the transaction.

The error message then shows up and when I look at the transaction I just tried to add the RECORD TRANSFER little circle is now marked.

Re: Add a Transaction Issue

It's good to see you again, @RachelleBogart.

Currently, there's an on-going issue where QuickBooks users are unable to add expenses from bank feed. Rest assured that our product engineers are diligently working on a fix.

As a workaround, you can add a withdrawal transaction manually and exclude the bank transaction.

Here's how to exclude bank transaction:

  1. Click Banking.
  2. Select the For Review tab.
  3. Mark the checkbox of the transaction to exclude.
  4. From the Batch actions drop-down, choose Exclude Selected.

Excluded transactions are listed on the Excluded tab for reference or review. Feel free to check out this article for your reference: How to Exclude Expenses from Downloaded Bank Transactions.

Also, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Customer Care so they can add your account to the list of affected users. This way, you’ll receive an email regarding the issue once updates become available.

Thank you for your patience as we work for a fix.

OK I see, thanks.  The above message says it's a bug.  But you seem to have found a better workaround than manually creating the txn, and excluding in the feed - anyhow it should "match" at that point
