Buy nowI am using Quickbooks Online. When I upload receipts and categorize it to create an expense, it doesn't allow me to add a tag at the time I create the expense. Sometimes Quickbooks doesn't automatically match the receipt to the download feed in my bank (which does allow you to add a tag to an expense.) Is there any way to add the Tag field when creating expenses from Receipts? When you create the expense and then it matches it to the bank download, you can't edit any of the details from the expense or I could add the tag then before matching it up. There has to be a better way of doing this.
Nice to have you in the Community space, @Dawn_at_Throw_Pink.
Allow me to share some insights about how the tag feature works in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You can tag transactions such as invoices, expenses, and bills. Tagging receipt is unavailable. With that said, you'll need to create an expense from the receipt then tag the transaction manually.
See screenshot below for your reference.

We know how it works, but it adds extra steps and time to have to reopen the expense and add the tag. We can already use client, class, category in the adding/editing the receipt, it would be so much easier to be able to add the tag at the same time. That just seems more efficient and intuitive.
I appreciate your idea, CFobesLV.
It seems that having the option to add tags upon creating an expense transaction is one of the ways to quicken the task in QuickBooks.
As of now, the said function is still unavailable in QuickBooks Online. I'd recommend sending this idea to our developers. They'll use this information to adjust and improve current and future tasks in QuickBooks. You can do so by clicking the Gear icon and then selecting Feedback.
You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
