Try opening your QBO account on any private/incognito browser.

I understand your efforts in trying to connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online and reporting the error messages encountered, jessicah. There are times a financial institution will have multiple bank names or they might have different types of accounts. Let me provide other way to make sure your bank will connect to QuickBooks Online.

Before we proceed, could you please confirm if you have enabled the multi-currency feature? If not, you'll need to enable it to manage foreign currency transactions. If it's already enabled, try using other listed versions of your bank's name. Additionally, check with your bank to confirm if it supports a connection to QBO.

If you've tried all the options for matching your bank's name and still can't establish a connection, or if your bank doesn’t appear in the list, you can request support for your bank. I can guide you through this process:

Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Select Link account.
  3. Search for the name of your financial institution.
  4. If you’re still unable to find your bank, select Request.
  5. Enter your bank's web address (URL) in the field provided, then select Request.

For more guidelines, you can check out the article: Request support for your bank.

As a workaround,  I recommend importing your bank transactions to QuickBooks Online. This enables you to access real-time financial insights, allowing for better cash flow management and informed decision-making. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Select the Upload transactions button beside Connect account.
  3. From the Link account▼ dropdown, select Upload from file.
  4. Click Drag and drop or select files and choose the file you downloaded from your bank. Then, select Continue.
  5. In the QuickBooks account▼ dropdown, select the account you want the transactions uploaded into. Then, select Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns in the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Continue.
  7. Click the transactions you would like to import. Then select Continue.
  8. Select Yes.
  9. Hit Done.

Moreover, after manually uploading your transactions, you can match and categorize them. This helps allocate them to the correct accounts or expense categories, providing clear insights into spending patterns and income sources.

Thank you for your response! I did not have multi-currency selected, so I upgraded and selected that. Unfortunately, I am still unable to link my HSBC Expat account to QBO, despite it being available on the list. I'm also not able to manually upload my data as HSBC Expat only exports their statements in PDF format. Can you please help me to link HSBC with my QBO?

(I get the same error whether my VPN is off or on. The error number is 101 and I’ve been reporting it for over a week. HSBC Expat is one of the banks available; it simply won’t link.)
