Assign Account Category in Excel before manual upload of transaction file

I am manually uploading owner transactions to QBO.  I have spent 20+ hours coding 10k transactions over several years.  Is there a way to upload these transactions to QBO with the category assigned from the file/Excel?  I made sure to use the exact account name from the Chart of Accounts.

Assign Account Category in Excel before manual upload of transaction file

Hello there, GregMonty.

We only have the Date, Description, and Amount option to map the fields. You'll want to manually assign the category after you've imported the transactions. You can assign categories by batch.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Transactions or Banking menu.
  2. Select Banking and then go to the bank.
  3. Check the transactions that you'll categorize having the same category.
  4. Click Update and then enter the details in the Update Selected screen.
  5. Select Apply or Apply and confirm

You also have the option to create bank rules so the system will automatically recognize the transactions and categorize them for you.

Here's a reference that can help manage bank transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you have other questions. Take care and have a great day!
