Bank account feeds to QB Pro 2020

Any recommendations for a plug-in or interface that can import bank files/data seamlessly for QB users that bank with smaller financial institutions? Former BOA customer that moved to a community bank. Bank syncs with QB online but not desktop version. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi there, @ET1505.

You can use the web connect (.qbo) file to import your bank file into QuickBooks.

First, you'll have to download the transactions, and there are two ways to do it.

If you're using QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Find your bank and select Download Transactions
  3. Sign in to your bank's website to download the Web Connect file.

If you're outside of QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Open a web browser and go to your bank’s website.
  2. Sign in to your bank account using your normal process.
  3. Download your transactions as a QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) file.

Once done, you can now start importing the file. Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
  2. Click Import, then select Web Connect Files.
  3. Choose the file you downloaded, then click Open.
  4. When prompted to choose a bank account, choose Use an existing QuickBooks account if the account is already set up or Create a new QuickBooks account if it's not yet added.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. When you see a window telling you that the data has been successfully read, click OK.

However, if the .qbo file isn't available in your financial institution, you can check out for a third party application that integrates with QuickBooks Desktop.

After downloading, you can now begin adding and matching bank transactions. This way, you'll be able to keep your book accurate.

I've also included an article that'll help you keep your QuickBooks accurate: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.

Feel free to click the Reply button if you have additional questions in importing your file. I'll be around to help.

I just downloaded my QB 2020 and attempted my first download of a bank feed. i keep getting an error message that QB is trying to open a second version and I must close QB to continue. I think it is trying toopen QB2017. Do I need to disconnect and then re-establish my bank feeds for 2020?

Welcome to QuickBooks.

Let's perform a clean install of QuickBooks Desktop to fix company file issues. I'm here to guide you with the steps.

  1. Open the Windows Start menu. Search for “Control Panel”, then open Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. From the list of installed programs, select the version of QuickBooks Desktop you're having problems with.
  4. Select Uninstall/Change and then Remove.  Click Next.  If you don’t see this option, sign out and sign back into Windows as an admin (or a user with admin rights).

When you’re done, reinstall QuickBooks Desktop. Then, ensure to update to the latest release

Please check this article if you're getting any other bank feeds errors: Fix OL and OLSU Bank Feeds Errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

For future reference, you'll want to match bank transactions in QuickBooks: Add and Match Bank Feed Transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please touch base with us if you have further questions. We're always right here to help you.

I have the exact same problem. I am able to import without any problems online. With Desktop Pro Plus2021 and previous versions, this doesn’t work. When I try to add bank, it only tells me how to do it manually after I select the bank. No place to sign in comes up?

Thanks for following this thread, Dheadguru.

I can see how important for your business to be able to import the transactions into QuickBooks. This will help save time in manually entering them into the company file.

To check if we have any reported issues, may I know the name of your Financial Institution? Any details shared ensures a timely solution about your concern.

Before importing the entries, make sure your Internet Explorer browser is up to date. This is to ensure to get the best experience when using QuickBooks. For detailed instructions, check out this article: TLS 1.2 for QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

Once done, transfer the downloaded entries into QuickBooks. I’m adding an article for additional resources. It outlines the complete steps on how to fix the following: Fix Web Connect import errors.

Stay in touch if you still need help with QuickBooks. I’ll be around to assist further. Have a good one.

Good evening, @Rrac1630

Thanks for chiming in on this thread. Let me share some light on the subject of adding a second financial.

You can easily add another bank or credit card account into your bank feeds by doing the same steps you did to add the first one. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Choose Bank feeds
  3. Hit the Set up Bank Feeds for an account option.
  4. Enter your bank's name and select it.

Afterward, review this guide for the next set of instructions: Set up bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop

Please inform me on how it goes. I want to make sure that you're able to get back on track with your business. Have a wonderful day!
