Bank account updates

  1. I’m new to QuickBooks. I’ve only been using it for a couple weeks. I have my bank accounts linked to my QuickBooks account. When I first linked them it showed the balance. My question is about updating the balance. I’m not sure how it is supposed to work but I think that I should be able to see that I have spent money from the account? Does this happen automatically? do I need to refresh the info from the bank periodically? Do I have to manually input the withdrawals? In my head I want to think that since QuickBooks accessed the bank account balances before it should be able to do it all the time or periodically. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Bank account updates

Hi Johnnynailz,


Once your account is connected, QuickBooks will automatically update it for you. It normally begins around 10 pm Pacific Time and another additional time over the next five hours.

Though, you can receive updated transactions via manual update.


Here's how:

  1. Click Banking, and then Banking at the top.
  2. Select the bank account you want to update, then click Update.

Also, you don't have to input the withdrawals manually.
