Bank Deposit

Hi, 

I have just created a manual deposit for a customer via the the bank deposit screen, there are no invoices associated with this deposit as it's an over payment so it will need to be credited to the customer account.

I have checked the customer's account and the over payment is not showing even though I assigned the deposit to the customer in question. Do I need to create a credit memo for the account, or will this cause an issue with reconciliation down the line and record two transactions?

I'm here to clear things out for you, HPMont.

 

You don't need to create another credit memo since you've already entered a bank deposit. To ensure that the overpayment will show, you'll have to select Accounts Receivable as the account. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the account holding the deposit, then click View register.
  4. Select the deposit, then click Edit.
  5. Choose Accounts Receivable from the Account drop-down menu.
  6. Click Save and Close.

Thank you for this it worked.

 

I now have the credit showing on the account, the deposit is showing as overdue as this situation happened in June last year. Will this now just come up as a credit option when I generate the next invoice for the customer so I can apply it. I am guessing this will be the case but just wanted to confirm.
