Bank deposits going to payable account

I am still trying to follow in footsteps here and have found a doozy.  Since mid-October, bank deposits have been going to an account called "Illinois Department of Revenue Payable" when the bank info is uploaded.  I am unable to add these deposits or edit them to the proper account.  Help please.

Bank deposits going to payable account

Help has arrived, sophie25.

I'm here to assist you to get this straightened out right away and ensure your deposits will go to the right account.

To clarify, is the bank account where the deposits are coming from connected to QuickBooks Online? If so, then the most likely reason why they are going into the wrong account is due to a bank rule.

Bank rules are designed to simplify the categorization of your uploaded transactions based on the conditions you've set. However, if these conditions were set up incorrectly, then we'll need to fix it to make sure this doesn't happen again:

To edit bank rules in QuickBooks Online

  1. Click Banking in the left navigation menu.
  2. Go to the Rules tab.
  3. Find the rule, then click Edit.
  4. Make the necessary changes.
  5. Click Save.

After this, let's undo the transactions added to the wrong account:

  1. Click Banking in the left navigation menu.

  2. Go to the In QuickBooks tab.

  3. Locate the transaction.

  4. From the Action column, select Undo. Repeat these steps for the other deposits.

Once you're done, you may try adding these deposits again to the correct account. Just in case you need it, I'm also including this helpful article with detailed steps:

That should do it. With these resources, I'm confident you'll be all set with your deposits after following these steps.

Keep in touch with me here should you need any additional assistance, I'm always around to lend a hand. Thanks for reaching out, I look forward to hearing from you.
