Bank Feed for Citi Cards is Broken

I first found that my Account Customer ID of many years (an email address with "@" in it) was not acceptable inside Quickbooks.

So, I changed the Account Customer ID with Citi Cards and, one time at least, I was able to change it in Quickbooks Bank Feed Settings.

Now it's back to the old one in Quickbooks and I can't change it.

Yet, when I try to deal with the account bank feed I still get the message:

"Invalid Customer ID.  Customer ID can only contain alpha numeric values"

Even trying to import a file of transactions from Citi hits this problem so I'm stuck now.

Bank Feed for Citi Cards is Broken

Thanks for sharing the detailed information, fred339.

I'm here to help you change your Account Customer ID.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to correct the Customer ID on accounts set up for online services in the Chart of Accounts. I'll guide you how:

  1. From the Company menuselect Chart of Accounts.
  2. Right-click the affected online-enabled bank account and select Edit Account.
Note: Online-enabled accounts are identified by a highlighted lightning bolt in your Chart of Accounts.
  3. Go to the Bank Feed Settings tab.
  4. Correct the Customer ID then select Save & Close.
  5. Run the same data utility to ensure the changes to the customer IDs allow the process to complete.

If the issue persists, let's verify the online bank information in QuickBooks then try to your financial institution again.

  1. From the Lists menu, select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Right-click the account being used when the error occurred and select Edit Account.
  3. Go to Bank Feed Settings and ensure the information in the Customer ID field matches the customer ID provided in the online account access documentation you received from your financial institution. Edit the number if necessary then click Save & Close. Note:
    • An extra or misplaced dash, period, or other characters in the ID field can cause this error.
    • The ID you are using may be correct, but the PIN entered is the incorrect one.
    • Depending on the financial institution, both the customer ID and PIN fields can have alpha and numeric characters. They might be case-sensitive, so try variations of the same customer ID and PIN using upper and lower case letters.
    • Some financial institutions lock accounts when you reach the maximum number of unsuccessful login attempts in a specific period. If locked out, you may encounter the error OL-334 when signing in for Bank Feeds. You may have to call your financial institution to have your PIN reset.
  4. Go back to your Bank Feeds Center and click Send Items to re-try the connection.

Additionally, I've included a guide for online banking in QuickBooks. This helps you process bank and credit card transactions efficiently.

I'm always here to lend a hand. Your success in banking with QuickBooks is our top priority.
