Bank Feeds and Transactions

Hi everyone,

In my bank feed in QBO, I am missing transactions from the whole month of December.  I keep updating the feed and have tried going through the troubleshooting articles from support, to no avail.  I called my bank to request a .csv file to load them in manually, but they only go back to my last statement for that.  Is there another way to go about this?  Does QBO not pull in the older transactions if they haven't done so already?

Thank you in advance!

Bank Feeds and Transactions

Great question, @Chelsey O.

When you initially connect your bank account, QuickBooks Self-Employed downloads the 30 to 90 days of transactions, and in some cases up to a year. Every time you sign in, QuickBooks automatically downloads new transactions from your connected accounts.

In your case, you wanting transactions that are older than the ones QuickBooks originally downloaded, it’s a two-step process. You need to export the transactions from your bank and then import them into QuickBooks using your laptop or desktop. Here's what you'll do:

  1. Pick a start date
  2. Get transactions from your bank.  Follow your bank's instructions for how to download CSV files of your transactions to your computer. Every financial institution has different steps.  Check the date range for the download. It should be at least one day before the date of your oldest transaction.  Download your transactions. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it, like your computer's desktop.

  3. Review the file format and size.  Open and review the file from your bank. Make sure it's in the correct format before you upload it.

  4. Manually upload the transactions

  • In QuickBooks Online, go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu. Then select the Banking tab.

  • Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.

  • Select the Link account ▼ dropdown and then Upload from file.

  • Select Browse and then select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then select Next.

  • In the QuickBooks account ▼ dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then select Next.

  • Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Next.

  • When you're ready, select Let's go.

Explore this converter app or SlickConnect as a workaround.
