Bank Feeds (Express) includes the full CC number in the Memo for Credit Card charges from Bank of America

QuickBooks Desktop (Pro 2019) with Express Bank Feeds pulls in the full credit card number as the Memo on each Credit Card Purchase/Charge record in QuickBooks.  It's formatted as "Memo: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" where the x's are the full credit card (NOT x'd out).  We're connected to M

It's really annoying because we have to clear each Memo or, better yet, set it to a descriptive memo.  This only applies to the Memo in the header of the charge.  The Memo on the Expenses tab (details) is blank.

Is this something that the QuickBooks team could fix in an update?  Encouraging us to store the full, un-encrypted credit card numbers throughout our QuickBooks company file in "Memo" fields seems really bad.

Hello briansweat,

Welcome to the Community. I'd be delighted to assist you with your concern about the credit card charges in QuickBooks Desktop.

The data downloaded from Bank Feeds will depend on the information provided by your bank or financial institution. I've also double-checked here and haven't found any reported issue similar to what you encounter in QuickBooks.

For now, I recommend reaching out to the Bank of America Support Team to check the information filling in from the Memo column. One of them will be able to check the syncing of data into our program.

In case the problem persists after contacting your bank, I recommend reaching out to us this time. Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Help tab at the top menu bar.
  3. Click QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  4. Click the Contact us option.

I recommend the article I'm adding below for further guidance on using Bank Feeds:

Please don't hesitate to come here with all of your QuickBooks needs, such as the Bank Feeds. The Community is here to ensure your success.

Re: Bank Feeds (Express) includes the full CC number in the Memo for Credit Card charges from Ban...

Bank of America business support couldn't find any setting on their side, suggested that I contact QuickBooks support.  I suspect it's just a fixed mapping to the QuickBooks Credit Card Purchase/Charge Memo field.

Thanks for sharing an update about your call with the FI, @briansweat.

All downloaded transactions in QBO only shows the last 4 digits of the card for security reasons.

Since the bank is unable to look for the root cause of why this happened, I recommend giving our Customer Care Team a call. They can initiate a screen-sharing session in a secure environment and verify what went wrong to ensure this won't happen again.

It’s likely an issue of transferring data between Bank of America and QuickBooks Online. You can follow the steps provided by my colleague to get in touch with our phone agents or see this article as your guide: Contact the QuickBooks Desktop Support Team.

Please let me know how the call goes, or if you need anything else. It's always my pleasure to help. Take care!
