Thanks for posting here, nextlevelpaint12.

Let me help you with the missing transactions.

First, we can manually download your latest transactions by updating your Banking.

  1. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu.
  2. Select Update.

If there's a message about additional authentication, simply follow the onscreen instructions.

Also, you'll want to check your bank's website to see if they are having issues or system maintenance. That will result in connections issues and transactions won't download. Log in to their website and look for alerts or notifications.

In addition, you'll need to update your bank info in QuickBooks if you recently changed something on your bank’s website.

  1. From the Banking or Transactions tab, select the blue tile for the bank account, then select the ✎ icon.
  2. Select Edit sign-in info.
  3. Update your info.

Please check the Step 3 section of this article: What to do if you see a bank error or can't download transactions. This will show you how to fix if you encountered banking errors.

Thanks for your reply.  I've updated the connection to the bank.  The dates that are missing are from Jan. 9 to April 30.  Maybe QB disconnected from the bank, and many banks only update back for a 90 day period.  Should I do a manual download from the bank even though all the bank transactions are listed in the QB Register?  I don't want to duplicate those transactions in the Register, but I do want them to show up in the Banking Transaction list.

Hi nextlevelpaint12!

Thank you for the additional details. Let me continue to guide you.

I would suggest not uploading the transactions again because they are already in your register. Yes, there is a possibility that the account was disconnected in the past that's why you lost the transactions. However, please note that QuickBooks cannot disconnect an account on its own.

Feel free to reach back out if you have other questions about online banking. Have a good one!

Thanks Jess.  So, how do I go about transferring the Bank Register data from Jan to April so it shows up in Banking Transactions?

Thanks for the reply, nextlevelpaint12.

You can manually upload a file for the Jan to April transactions. Then, let's match them to the ones on your register so it won't cause duplicates and discrepancies.

The supported file formats are QBO, CSV, and QFX. You can get it from your bank's website. Please check the detailed steps in these articles:

My bank transactions from Jan 9 to April 30 are in the Register but are not visible in Banking Transactions (Not in For Reviewed, Categorized, Excluded).  JessT. said NOT TO manually load the bank transactions because then I would have DUPLICATES in the Register - now Alex V says to manually upload the transactions.

What steps do I take to make sure I don't duplicate Register transactions and update the Banking Transactions?

Below are the two replies, and a screenshot of the missing transaction dates (Jan. 9 to April. 31).

Thank you

Thanks for getting back to us and providing screenshots, nextlevelpaint12.

For the transactions to show up on your banking, you can upload them manually so it will appear on the For Review tab.  That's the way it will appear on the For review tab. You can go to your bank's website and follow the instructions on how to download them. I've listed our supported file formats below:

  • Comma-Separated Values (CSV)
  • QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Quicken (QFX)

You follow these steps in uploading the file:

  1. Select Banking from the sidebar menu, then click the Banking tab.
  2. Hit the Upload transactions button.
  3. Click Browse, then choose the file you downloaded from your bank.
  4. Select the account you want to upload the transactions into from the QuickBooks account ▼ drop-down menu, then select Next
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions, then click Next.
  6. When you’re ready, hit Let's go.

Once done, you can go back to your Banking menu to match and categorize the transactions.
