Banking / For Review: How to directly add transactions in a foreign currency

Hi all,

We're using QuickBooks online, with Swiss Francs as home currency, and Euros and United States Dollars as foreign currencies.

When processing transactions in the Banking / For Review tab, one can't directly "add" a transaction in the "Action" column. The following error appears: "Please enter the exchange rate or the original foreign currency amount."

Instead, one has to click on the transaction to enlarge it and convert the foreign currency amount to the home currency before one can "add" it.

Is there a way to avoid this intermediate step to directly "add" such transactions?

Banking / For Review: How to directly add transactions in a foreign currency

Hi @EAF-CH,

I’d like to begin by welcoming you to the QuickBooks Community.  Let me share some insights about adding banking transactions in a foreign currency in QuickBooks Online.

The ability to directly add transactions in a foreign currency is a feature that I can see as being helpful to you and others. I’d recommend sending feedback to our Development Team for consideration in future software updates.

You can do so by clicking the Gear icon and selecting Feedback. You may also send your product request via this link: https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/forums/168199-quickbooks-online-feature-request.

In the meantime, you can add foreign-currency transactions by following the steps below:

  1. Open the transaction details and select Add.
  2. Enter the Foreign Amount or Exchange rate your bank provides in the currency fields.

I’m including an article that guides QuickBooks users through the process of adding and splitting transactions in a foreign currency for reference: How to add transactions in a foreign currency.

Please know that I’ll be available here should you need any additional assistance. Wishing you and your business continued success!
