Hello there, CoastalVentures.
I’m here to help fix your credit card transactions and ensure you’re able to bring in and post them to the correct accounts.
You need to create sub-accounts for the different card numbers you can link to the Capital One Credit Card (Master account). This way, you’ll be able to select the appropriate sub-cards upon importing the transactions.
If you only want to use the Webconnect functionality, you can create the sub-accounts right-away, then import the transactions to each card numbers. However, if this is through the Direct connect process; you need to first identify how your bank sends the downloaded transactions.
If the transactions download to one account, connect only the parent account. Otherwise, connect the sub-accounts and not the parent account. Either way, their total will show in the Master/Parent account.
To add a subaccounts :
- Go to Lists at the top menu bar, then select Chart of Accounts.
- Choose New from the Account drop-down at the bottom of the screen.
- Enter necessary information, then put a check mark in the Subaccount of box.
- Click Save and Close.
To continue the process of importing via a Webconnect file, click the Set up your account WebConnect section of this article:
Set up account for Bank Feeds
If this is through a Direct connect process, here's what you'll want to do:
- From the QuickBooks Banking menu, select Bank Feeds, then Set Up Bank Feeds for an Account.
- In the Enter your Bank’s name field, enter the name of your bank.
- Select the Continue button.
- Enter your Online Banking ID and Password.
Choose Connect. QuickBooks will then connect to the bank’s server. - Pick the credit card sub account you want to connect.
- Then, click Finish after the process completes.
That’s it! You can now accept all of your bank transactions and arrange them per credit card number.
Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have questions. I’ll be here anytime.
