Being able to import a budget report with classes is an awesome idea, @mark-donovan.

While this isn't an option, you can create a budget report manually instead with specific classes assigned to them (available for Plus and Advanced users). Just click the Gear icon ⚙️, and choose Budgeting. Then, tap Add Budget and create the budget plan you want. Please see the screenshot below for visual guide:

Also, I recommend visiting our QuickBooks Blog page to keep up with the latest news and product updates.

I've got a handy resource that tackles about creating and importing budgets in QuickBooks Online. It also includes the steps on how to run and customize budget reports, and how to copy, modify, or delete them. For more details, please check out this article: Create and import budgets in QuickBooks Online.

I've got your back if you have more questions about managing your budget data in QBO. Take care and have a nice day, @mark-donovan.

Can a budget be imported with the .csv template by Class? Essentially import the budget and sub-divide by Class?

@ReyJohn_D ,

My budget was successfully imported.  It represents the "Operating" class.  How do I assign "Operating" to that budget so I can then upload the second Class budget, for our "Building" class?

Thanks,

Geoff

Thanks for joining the thread, gstuart.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we're unable to add a class to the imported Budget. The imported budget is a regular budget that will be categorized into all accounts without a class.

In the meantime, I'd also recommend checking our QuickBooks blog page regularly so you'll be updated on the latest features and improvements in QBO.

Also, I encourage checking our Help articles page to learn some tips and tricks in managing your QBO account. From there, you can read great articles that can guide you through the steps by steps process.

Stay in touch with us if you have other questions. I'm more than happy to help. Take care!

Hi there, @plz21889.

Allow me to share some information with your concern.

Currently, we're unable to get the time frame when this feature will be added to QuickBooks Online.

I can see how importing a prepared budget would be helpful for both you and your business. I'd suggest you send us feedback with regards to the feature that you'd want to be included in the product for future upgrades.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

You can also see this link for more details: How do I submit feedback?

To learn more about creating, editing, and managing budgets in QBO, you may check this article: How to create, edit, and manage budgets.

As a workaround, you can look for a third-party application that can handle budgeting through our App Center.

If there's anything else you need help with concerning QuickBooks Online, please feel free to reach back out. Have a great day!
