Can I edit a receipt (Donor) on a transaction that has been included in a deposit and has been reconciled?

I am running year-end giving statements and noticed a donation was recorded to the wrong individual. I want to edit so it appears on the proper person's statement.

Can I edit a receipt (Donor) on a transaction that has been included in a deposit and has been reconciled?

Hello there, @FCCP.

Good to see you back here in the Community. I'm to share information about editing a reconciled transaction in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To change or undo a transaction on a reconciled account, all you need to do is to remove its R (reconciled) status in the register. Please refer to these steps on how:

  1. In QBO, go to the Accounting menu at the left pane.
  2. Proceed to the Chart of Accounts tab.
  3. Locate the account, then tick View register under the Action column.
  4. Select the transaction you want to unreconcile to expand the view.
  5. In the checkmark ✔ column, select the box with the “R” until the box is blank. This removes the transaction from the reconciliation.

  6. Hit Save.

Once done, you can now edit the transaction by double-clicking it.

Once you're ready to reconcile again, refer to this article for further guidance: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
