Can I import QB online data to a QB online account that started with a desktop import?

Let's get some insight into importing your Desktop data into Online.

Since you already have 2019 information inside of QuickBooks Online, you won't be able to import that Desktop data on top of the Online data. The reason why is because it'll remove all of the 2019 information and only acknowledge the Desktop data coming into the product. However, you can always create a new account and import the Desktop data into that account so that you won't have any trouble exporting that file and losing that data.

Thank you for your reply. Do I understand correct: If I start a new online account, import desktop data from 2015 until end of 2018, there is no way to add the 2019 online data from the closed account I exported. I would have to re-do all transactions from 2019?

Yes, that is correct! The option to import transactions to QuickBooks Online (QBO) is currently unavailable. You can only import Customers, Vendors, Accounts, and Product and Services lists.
