Purging your data will permanently erase your bank feeds and all transactions. Since starting over is a significant step, let’s review the process before removing your QuickBooks Online company.
Please know that the Purge feature is designed to completely wipe the slate clean for new companies. Because bank feeds are tied to the specific transactions and mapping of your current file, they cannot be preserved during a purge. Moreover, only company files that are less than 90 days old can be purged. Here's how:
- Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account. as an admin. Make sure you are in the company you intend to purge.
- Open this link in your web browser: https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany.
- To confirm you want to delete all company data, type YES in the text field.
- Select OK.
- Choose your industry from the dropdown menu.
- Select Create accounts based on my industry to have QuickBooks help set up your chart of accounts after the purge. Don't select Create an empty chart of accounts unless advised by your accountant.
- Select Wipe Data.
If your company is 90 days or older, the option to purge and start from scratch is not available. Manually deleting transactions or other data within the account is the only option. For more details, please see this page: Delete your data and start over.
